For years I kept parts of myself carefully contained to be “professional”. I didn’t always know I was doing it… my body knew long before I did.
This arc began in late September, when I first named myself a soul embodiment coach on LinkedIn, and closed on the eve of Samhain. Samhain is the old Gaelic festival on 31 October that marks the end of the harvest and the turn into the darker half of the year, when fires were lit to carry people through the winter. It felt like the right moment to let this arc settle into embers.
Along the way, I wrote about the alarm our bodies sound when we don’t feel safe, the manager whose support changed everything for me, and what it was like to tell my pharma colleagues that I now coach sex, love and relationships.
If you read it from beginning to end, I hope you feel a sense of relief… that yes, exactly moment, when something that seems so obvious is put into words in a way you’ve never quite read or heard before. I hope you feel deeply seen and understood. And if your own experience stirs as you read, I hope you feel safe enough to reach out and share it with me. I would love to know more about you.
Writing this arc asked me to be true to myself. Looking back, I can see the whole process was a way of titrating… gently letting myself become comfortable being seen and witnessed in my own unfolding. There are vulnerable parts here, places where I feared I might be
judged or shamed. Before sharing each one, I checked in with myself until I felt ready, regulating my nervous system with the very same tools I offer my clients… and each time, I found I could let a little more of me be seen..
