What Safety Felt Like

In my last post, I shared how a heated Zoom call sent my body into full alarm… even though my mind knew I was completely safe.

After I discharged myself from A&E, I knew I needed to listen to my body differently. So I pursued Somatic Experiencing, a post traumatic somatic therapy.

When I told my manager I needed time for this therapy, the response was simple… “Take the time you need. No need to tell me more unless you want to.”

For the first time at work, I felt totally safe and supported. Not just in my mind… in my body.

That support made room for the work. Somatic Experiencing revealed a pattern my mind alone had never been able to see… and through that process, my life transformed in every aspect… how I felt in myself, how I started to relate to my daughters, and the confidence I brought to my career.

Who has made you feel that kind of safety at work? And who could you offer it to?

The details of the story are deeply personal… and I’m happy to share them with anyone who feels called to hear them. If that’s you, DM me.

A note: I’m not a certified Somatic Experiencing or trauma therapy practitioner. As a coach, I’m trauma informed and trained to support my clients in reconnecting with their bodies… and I always encourage specialist support where it’s needed.
